Call for Papers – CHCD2026 International Symposium

The 8th International Symposium on Cultural Heritage Conservation by Digitization (CHCD2026) will be held in Beijing, China from September 9 to 12, 2026. The organizing committee is now widely soliciting conference papers from all sectors of society. We welcome enthusiastic submissions! Once approved by expert review, selected papers will be edited into the Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Cultural Heritage Conservation by Digitization and officially published. Authors of the papers will have the opportunity to present academic reports at the CHCD2026 Symposium. The submission deadline is set for May 24, 2026.

Scope of Papers

The Symposium invites original research papers focusing on new technologies and new scenarios related to the following types of cultural heritage:

Types of Cultural Heritage

  1. Intangible Cultural Heritage and Living Transmission (traditional craftsmanship, music, dance, fine arts, etc.)
  2. Archaeological Site Research, Conservation and Interpretation (underwater archaeology, frontier archaeology, cross-border archaeology, etc.)
  3. Grottoes and Stone Carvings, Ancient Architecture, Revolutionary Heritage, Modern and Contemporary Historic Buildings
  4. Famous historical and cultural cities, towns, villages, and traditional villages, etc.

Research Themes

New technology

  1. Artificial Intelligence (large models, deep learning, generative modeling, image extraction, intelligent Q&A, etc.)
  2. Spatial Recording and Analysis (spatial information technology, lightweight/refined modeling, HBIM, heritage conservation equipment, etc.)
  3. Immersive Presentation and Interaction (VR/AR/XR, intelligent equipment, ultra-HD display, motion capture, transmission and communication, etc.)
  4. Endangered Heritage and Digital Rescue (digital monitoring, smart management, disaster prevention and mitigation, etc.)

  • First Round Call: April 22 – May 24, 2026
    Announcement of the call for paper abstracts.
  • First Round Review: May 25 – May 31,2026
    Reviews will be conducted by the CHCD Secretariat.
  • Second Round Call: June 1 – July 12, 2026
    Shortlisted authors will be notified by email to submit full papers.
  • Second Round Review: July 13 – July 31, 2026
    Double-blind peer review organized by the CHCD Secretariat.
  • Acceptance Notices: August 1 – August 10, 2026
    Acceptance and registration information will be sent by email.
  • Author Registration: August 1 – August 16, 2026
    Authors complete forum registration; the conference program will be updated accordingly.
  • Information Collection: August 17 – August 28, 2026
    Participants submit attendance information to finalize the conference program.
  • Forum Dates: September 9 – September 12, 2026
    On-site registration and academic presentations.

Submission Requirements and Formatting Guidelines

Abstract

Paper abstracts must be submitted in Word format with both Chinese and English versions, each not exceeding 300 words. The abstract should clearly state the research purpose, research methods, research results, and final conclusions. The number of keywords shall not exceed 5. Additional required information includes the paper title, author name(s), affiliation(s), professional title(s), a one-inch bareheaded electronic photo in JPG or PNG format with a file size no less than 1 MB, and complete contact information.

Main Text

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format, in either Chinese or English. The length should not exceed 7,000 Chinese characters or 6,000 English words. The manuscript shall include a title, basic author information, Chinese and English abstracts, keywords, main text, annotations, and references. When uncommon foreign names of persons, places, institutions, or professional terms appear for the first time, the original language shall be indicated in parentheses after the Chinese translation. All citations and quoted viewpoints must be accompanied by complete references, including the author, article title, publication name, issue number, publisher, publication year, and page numbers. Citations from English works shall be kept in the original language without translation into Chinese, with article titles in quotation marks and publication names in italics. Citations from other foreign languages shall be presented in the original language followed by a Chinese translation. Online resources must include the specific URL and access date. All annotations shall be provided as endnotes, numbered sequentially and standardized, with references from the same source properly combined. Manuscripts without annotations or non-academic submissions will not be considered for review. The submission email must include the author’s full name, affiliation, professional title, mailing address, postal code, telephone number, and personal email address for contact purposes. Student submissions must clearly indicate the school, major, and grade.
