China and Italy expand digital heritage ties through China-Italy Digital Heritage Cooperation
On June 18, the Cultural Partnership: China-Italy Digital Heritage Cooperation was successfully held at the RE International Center for Digital Creativity in Beijing’s Shougang Park. The event welcomed more than 50 participants, including representatives from both the Chinese and Italian governments, leading enterprises, and experts and scholars from around the world.
During the event, the Tsinghua Heritage Institute for Digitalization (THID) and Civita Mostre e Musei signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Going forward, the two parties will deepen collaboration in the field of digital heritage by harnessing the rich and diverse cultural resources of both countries. Key cooperative projects include the Digital Night Tour of the Yuanmingyuan, the No. 3 Blast Furnace Digital Museum, the Italy-China Exchange Exhibition Initiative and the China-Italy 100 VR Cultural Heritage Project.
Professor Fulvio Rinaudo, President of the International Committee for Documentation of Cultural Heritage (CIPA-HD) and faculty member at the Politecnico di Torino, delivered a keynote speech. He presented Italy’s progress in digital research on cultural heritage knowledge, preservation, and management, reflected on the deep-rooted cultural ties between China and Italy, and extended his sincere congratulations on the launch of this collaborative initiative.
