Heritage at Risk Summer School Recap

CIPA Heritage Documentation was invited to the “Heritage at Risk Summer School” in Ferrara, Italy, which brought together almost 30 researchers, practitioners, and cultural heritage professionals to discuss how 3D technologies can support heritage documentation in times of crisis. Within the framework of 3DBigDataSpace and in collaboration with 3D4CH, the programme explored European and international approaches to safeguarding heritage at risk through 3D documentation, reconstruction, and digital workflows.

Topics included:

  • 3D documentation standards and methodologies
  • Heritage preservation in crisis and conflict contexts
  • Experiences from Ukraine, Italy, and international case studies
  • Reconstruction and modelling approaches for at-risk heritage
  • Practical training sessions with static laser scanners and photogrammetry tools

During the event, CIPA President Fulvio Rinaudo introduced CIPA-HD and CIPA Emerging Professionals to the audience and gave the speech, “From Reaction to Readiness: CIPA Heritage Documentation and the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage at Risk”.

The Summer School continued the following day with sessions on mobile mapping systems and data processing workflows.
