Comparative digital reconstruction using photogrammetry and low-cost methodologies: Heritage documentation of the Siecha Chapel as a contribution to the formation of a digital collection of Colombian architectural heritage, a 25-minute talk by Santiago Alejandro Ortiz Hernández, historian, data analyst and master´s degree candidate in Universitat Politécnica de Valencia – Escuela Superior de Cartografía, Topografía y Geodesia.

The present work proposes a holistic patrimonial documentation that integrates geometric, historical-architectural documentation and different forms of functional digital representations both for documentation, conservation and restoration, and in the promotion and dissemination of architectural heritage. The work exposes, in the first place, the state of the art related to the heritage documentation through the photogrammetric technique with emphasis on its potential low cost, an aspect that is necessary to increase the rate of digitalization of the material heritage and that facilitates the financing of heritage documentation projects as a fundamental basis for its protection and promotion. Secondly, with sources of varied nature, a study of the architectural history of the objective religious monument of this work is elaborated, thus exposing the importance of incorporating a multidisciplinary vision that serves to understand in depth the heritage building worked, and enrich its documentation. Third, a comparison of the limitations and advantages of two different workflows is made, one that exclusively uses free access tools, and another with a mixed workflow that uses both commercial tools, and free access tools for the digitalization and representation of the Colonial Building Chapel of Siecha, located in the municipality of Guasca – Colombia. Finally, some useful representation technologies are explored both for measurement, and for the dissemination of material heritage in web environments and by generating audiovisual content.

CIPA Experts will provide feedback during the discussion period, including Dimitrios Skarlatos and Stratos Stylianidis, with the CIPA EPs who are organising the event.
