On Tuesday, 7 July 2026, the Laboratory of Geoinformatics Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), invited by Işık University, successfully organised a specialised workshop during the AMPS conference, Istanbul: Cultural Pasts – Urban Futures.

The workshop, titled “Advanced 3D Documentation of Cultural Heritage: Theory and Hands-On Applications,” focused on the vital role of topographic and photogrammetric documentation in the preservation, study, and promotion of cultural heritage. Emphasis was placed on accurate 3D data acquisition, processing workflows, and advanced modelling methodologies.

Participants had the opportunity to combine theoretical insights with practical, hands-on activities. The workshop concluded with an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) experience, where participants were able to visualise and explore their own 3D models.

Supported by CIPA Heritage Documentation, the event highlighted the critical importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in cultural heritage documentation and preservation, bringing together expertise from geoinformatics, photogrammetry, 3D modelling, and digital heritage technologies.
