31st International Symposium – CIPA2027 Abu Dhabi

The 31st CIPA International Symposium will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 15–19 November 2027, marking the first time the CIPA biennial symposium will be organized in the Arab region. Announced during the CIPA2025 Seoul, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will host the next edition in partnership with CIPA Heritage Documentation. The symposium will bring together international experts, researchers, practitioners, students, and industry representatives working across the field of heritage documentation.

Visit of CIPA-HD President to New Delhi, India

On September 15th, CIPA-HD President Fulvio Rinaudo met in New Delhi with Indian CIPA-HD members—including Ankur Kajla, who attended the CIPA Nepal Heritage School in January 2026—and the Vice President of the ICOMOS India National Committee, Shalini Dasgupta.

XR Heritage Summer School 2026 Concludes in Suzhou

Organised by the Design School at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), endorsed by the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee, CIPA Heritage Documentation, and supported by the ICOMOS China Heritage Conservation and Digitalisation (CHCD) Committee, the summer school took participants from the historic landscapes of Suzhou’s Grand Canal to the possibilities of digital interpretation and presentation.

Digital Ecosystems for Heritage 4.0 – Three Days in Florence, Shaping the Future of Heritage

For three inspiring days, Florence became a vibrant meeting place for the future of cultural heritage. From 26 to 28 August 2026, Digital Ecosystems for Heritage 4.0 welcomed 132 participants from 28 countries for lively discussions, new connections and shared experiences across keynotes, scientific sessions, panels, exhibitions and the CHEDAR Challenge. Among its most significant outcomes was a recommendation calling on ICOMOS to develop heritage-specific ethical and operational guidance for the responsible design and use of AI.
